Kaya Bio: |
| Rita is a 56 y.o. born and raised in southern CA., about 30 miles east of LA. She moved to Cincinnati, Ohio in the 1970’s to complete an internship in Dietetics. She got married (the 1st time), had a couple of awesome sons (Nathan & Alan), and ended up staying. Her 2nd marriage gave her a beautiful daughter (Leah). Rita has a diversified background. She was a registered dietitian for over 25 years. Most of those years she did clinical hospital work. Then she gravitated towards sports nutrition and esthetics. She’s presently working as a licensed esthetician specializing in medical skin care & treatments.
While doing her endless cardio routines and circuit training in the gym Rita noticed this trainer’s clients looking better and better while she was underweight and over-trained. Also Rita was pretty much vegetarian and against “excessive protein” intake considering 40 to 60 grams of protein a day was plenty. So there she was at 44, working with a vengeance to hit 50 with defiance. But Rita had to admit that what she was doing wasn’t working. With no desire to look like a bodybuilder she finally hired Jeff Storch which resulted in such rapid changes in her physique, strength, and overall wellbeing that it inspired her. Now her fiancé, Jeff, came into her life at the end of her 2nd marriage. Although they often can’t figure out why they’re together they’ve decided it’s kind of a soulmate thing. Rita says, “He trained me and helped me get ready for my 1st show (and every show since). He is also a national level competitor and is an NPC judge. He’s been competing for 20 years and at 40 is enjoying his debut in the Masters divisions, including Masters Nationals this year”.
Rita is competitive by nature and competing with herself was an interesting and fun challenge and she grew to appreciate muscle and was intrigued with the art of biology. There are so many unique and interesting people in this sport and competitors are so supportive for the most part and she appreciates the sportsmanship. Then there’s the accomplishment aspect, both physical and mental.
